A new direction for J. Adams & Co, Tor is the first collection to explore the decorative capabilities of metal casting.

Casting both an upward and downwards illumination, Tor Up/Down beautifully washes the wall with light. When lit, Tor reveals the subtle textures and patterns of the wall, creating a decorative play of light and shadow. The two LED light sources not only offer directional light but also indirectly illuminate the surrounding space, providing an ambient glow.

All our products are made to order at our Birmingham factory. The lead time to make each product is stated above and on the order confirmation and / or proforma invoice this is a guide only and due to the hand-made nature of our products it can vary.

If you require the products for a certain date, please contact us / state this on the order and we will do our best to accommodate.

Shipping costs are based on size and weight. For UK mainland deliveries: small items ship for FREE, while larger items incur a £50 fee. Some orders may require a dedicated courier, with charges determined accordingly.

The Process

Behind the Scenes - Casting Tor From Molten Brass

Sand Casting Tor

The Tor collection is crafted using the centuries-old technique of sand casting. The first step in this process involves creating a detailed mould from a mixture of sand, clay, and water, which is carefully shaped to capture the intricate details and texture of each piece.

Once the mould is prepared, molten brass is poured into it, where it cools and solidifies, taking on the exact form of the mould. After cooling, the cast pieces are carefully removed and undergo a series of refining processes, including sanding, polishing, and machining, to achieve a flawless finish.
