Will Earl leads the creative direction at J. Adams & Co, shaping the brand’s engineering-led approach to contemporary lighting. With a background in furniture and product design, his design language developed during his early career in Milan, where he formed a lasting interest in the relationship between light and spatial architecture.

Since joining J. Adams & Co in 2019, Earl has worked closely with the craftsmen at the brand's Birmingham factory, maintaining a direct connection between design development and making. The goal is to reestablish British-made lighting at the intersection of craft and architecture, preserving traditional crafting skills. His design ethos is grounded in the honesty of materials, functional clarity and disciplined attention to detail - principles that define collections such as Flume, Strata and Luna.
Earl’s creative process is driven by curiosity, informed by references to mid-century design and sculpture, and refined through close dialogue with the makers in Birmingham. The result is lighting that feels established and contemporary, where engineering, form, and craft exist in quiet alignment.
